Mission:
City Outreach empowers youth, families, and adults to actualize their potential by equipping them with the skills and resources to progress beyond mental, economic, and/or educational barriers.
Vision:
City Outreach envisions a world where individuals with mental health disorders redefine the stigma of limitation associated with mental health, by utilizing skill sets and resources that enable them to live social, productive, and autonomous lifestyles. We believe in the potential of every human being and we know that collaboration and support is a critical component of success. We strive to see an interconnected community in Milwaukee County that supports itself and its members through outreach, integrated skills training, and the amplification of available resources.
At City Outreach, we know that there are a lot of bricks to lay when building a life. We connect individuals to the tools and support they need to build a lasting foundation.
History
City Outreach was founded as a nonprofit in 2015, with the mission to empower youth, families and adults to actualize their potential through skills building and connection to resources.Founder and Director, Ken Browne, established the organization with his own experiences as a Black male youth in Milwaukee County in mind. His positive experience with programs like Wraparound Milwaukee emboldened him to work in the best interests of other individuals in his hometown as they strive to overcome mental, economic, and/or educational barriers. City Outreach’s program model is grounded in the idea of creating individualized care within a service delivery system that truly puts the needs of the consumer first. Our strategy is primarily focused around discovering the inherent strengths and skills that the consumer already has and amplifying those skills to build a foundation for future success.Through supportive services, comprehensive care, and mentorship we strive to maximize the quality of life for persons with mental illness.
